On September 29th, pop-rock band Waterparks are embarking on their eighth sold out date of their first UK headliner. Even for a shorter and smaller show in the O2 Academy 2 in Birmingham, the venue was still packed from front to back with the bands ever increasing fan base. GIG REVIEW – OUR WORLD BELOW? – WOLVERHAMPTON 1/7/17

Our-World-Below.jpg

Performing at the Slade rooms on the 1st July we see 4 bands supporting headliners Our World Below?.

First on the bill are local Birmingham band Enemy Of Atlas. Coming across as your young teenage rock band it’s hard to tell if the band needs work or just the equipment. At first it was incredibly hard to hear the vocals and there was pretty bad reverb meaning it was nearly impossible to hear what was said between tracks. However, Continue reading “GIG REVIEW – OUR WORLD BELOW? – WOLVERHAMPTON 1/7/17”

GIG REVIEW – SET IT OFF – SLAM DUNK MIDLANDS 27/05/17

IMG_3235.JPG

As the festival reaches its  final hours, the Key Club stage hosts its second to last band Set It Off. After being second on the Main Stage back in 2015, they may have downgraded stage size, but certainly upped in audience size.

Opening with single ‘Why Worry’, the entire audience was up and jumping  shouting out the lyrics ‘Why? Please tell me why do we worry?’. Opening the show with their most well-known songs certainly hyped the audience, with people singing along to the summer anthem ‘Forever Stuck In Our Youth’ and anger filled ‘The Haunting’. After making their Slam Dunk debut on the Breakout Stage last year, With Confidence have now moved up the ranks to play the Key Club stage, attracting a massive crowd.

GIG REVIEW – MAKEOUT – SLAM DUNK MIDLANDS 27/05/17

IMG_3208.JPG

Like we’ve said before, performing on the breakout stage isn’t always easy. Opening up to possibly an entirely new audience can be daunting, but luckily American pop-punk band Makeout knew just how to do this.

Unfortunately, at first the crowd was nothing more than about 7 people sitting watching the stage. Of course, taking Continue reading “GIG REVIEW – MAKEOUT – SLAM DUNK MIDLANDS 27/05/17”

GIG REVIEW – CROSSFAITH – SLAM DUNK MIDLANDS 27/05/17

IMG_3205.JPG

Second up on the Main Stage this year are none other than Japanese electro-rockers Crossfaith. Offering high energy to the festival, this was certainly a set to check out.

After last performing at Slam Dunk in 2015, Crossfaith are no strangers to the festival and raked in a massive crowd from the start to the end of their set. Opening with ‘Xeno’ from their most recent album Xeno, Crossfaith already had people at the front jumping, moving and creating huge circle pits from the word go. It doesn’t take long for the metalcore rockers to take things back to their 2013 EP ‘Zion’ with one of their more popular songs ‘Monolith’ before moving on to ‘Kill em’ All’ and ‘Ghost In The Mirror’ featuring fellow performer Caleb Shomo from Beartooth.

Opening a festival is always hard, especially if you are a smaller band. However, this wasn’t a problem for competition winners You Know The Drill. After being voted by the public to open the Rocksound Breakout Stage at the Midlands event, they already had a set of fans/friends ready at the stage for their big performance.
