From recording with Paul Reeve (MUSE) to travelling 650 miles for a show, The Lotus have achieved rather a lot in their time as a band. Want to learn more? Check out our A-Z interview with them below!
A Song Which Made You Want To Make Music: Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody
Best Experience While On Tour: Being on tour: when you’re touring there’s no moment better than another, everything’s just great! You have fun, you play and stay with your friends. It’s one of the greatest experience you have in your life.
Cover you would really like to do: We’re not very good at choosing cover songs: recently we were just thinking to cover Declare Independence of Bjork and you know, that’s a very weird song but who knows…
Deepest Lyrics One Of Your Songs Features: Don’t Be Surprised from our first album ‘Forgotten Silence’ (2011):
‘…Hands of gold touch the sacred breast tonight
the ghosts in your mind wake up and die
I can give you my eyes but you must look inside
And later you can hear my complaint
But you, don’t be surprised, if you fall down…’
Easiest Song You Wrote: Scar, which has not been released yet (it will be in our next album though!)
Favourite album/single/EP you have released: Our latest EP ‘Awakening’ is one of our most complex and introspective work and for this reason is one our favourite. However, we definitely recommend to wait for our new album to be released: that is going to be THE album!
Greatest Show/Festival You Have Played: We’ve played a lot of shows in Italy, UK and US: one of our recent gig in Manchester at Rebellion was absolutely great though!
Happiest Moment You’ve Experienced In The Band: When we received the reply from Paul Reeve (Muse) which eventually became our producer.
Interesting Fact About One Of Your Members: Luca is a great photographer, and that’s quite boring, but at least he’s mainly doing soft-porn!
Jokes You Have In The Band: ‘Non ti dico chi mi pari’ (English translation: I can’t tell you who you look like). One day we’re going to explain that, but not now.
Kicking Off Your Set Is Best With Which Song: Tomorrow which is also our favourite song to close the set! When we close with Tomorrow we normally open with Mars-X or Andromeda’s Mother.
Longest Distance You’ve Travelled To Play A Show: Around 6500 miles (10500km) from our town in Italy to L.A., in 2007.
Movie That Best Represents The Band: Interstellar.
New Band You’d Recommend: All the bands we’re playing with apart from The Lotus, which are (in no particular order) Elvenking, Innershine, Prospket, Lost Resonance Found, Hell In The Club, Sukh, Diggin’ For Apples.
Opening For This Band Would Be Ideal: Muse or even Lady Gaga!
Place You’d Most Like To Tour: Everywhere!
Quote That You’d Like To Pass On To Readers: Where there’s fish, there’s water. (cit, Worms Battlegrounds)
Reason For The Title Of Your Recent/Forthcoming Release:Our new album doesn’t have a name yet, but we will probably call it ‘ The Great Illusion’.
‘The great illusion’ is an idea, it’s the meaning of life itself.
It’s like God’s splendour, that doesn’t exist, but it’s everything for the worshipper.
The Great Illusion is the point of view which can turn itself into a path towards the Truth.
‘This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the Great Pyramid, for it is the number of a man. That number is 777.’
See Us Live At: No gigs for now. We’re writing our new album and we’ll go back to the studio in May!
The First Song You Ever Played Together As A Band: We don’t remember exactly which was the first song we’ve played together but one of the few covers we did was The Man Who Sold The World by David Bowie. We actually played the Nirvana version.
Unusual Merchandise: Still thinking about it but we will certainly have some after the new album release.
Variations You’d Like To Do On Any Of Your Songs: Normally we don’t change our songs live but we tend to add some extra riffs at the beginning or the end of them.
Worst Experience On Tour: When we’ve been hit by a car, or when we risked our lives doing an about-turn on the motorway in Italy!
X-rays Or Any Other Treatments For Band Related Injuries:. Blood exchange transfusion
Your Favourite Show You’ve Ever Played: Maremoto Festival in Italy. It was really a good festival and one of our greatest shows ever.
Zoo Animal That Best Describes The Band: The elephant: he’s clever but he can be aggressive. And he’s big as all the equipment we bring for every concert!
